"I need to do better than Berlin and prepare for something bigger"

I was disppointed about my performance in Berlin and eager to try again. Barcelona being my own town a this time of my life, it was very easy and stress free to just buy a bib without any struggle or waiting time. I was so relaxed on marathon day and I enjoyed every minute of it!
THE EXPO
Located at Fira de Barcelona Montjuïc, don't expect anything particular or at the level of a big international event. It's easy and well organized but it's quite small. Collect your bib and your event tee shirt and have a quick tour around the booths. In half an hour it's all done.

THE COURSE
The start was on Passeig de Gràcia and the finish at Arc de Triomf, with the course passing through central Barcelona and the waterfront. Simply stunning!
Little useful tip: the road in the city center is somehow curved, so try to keep running in the middle of the street to avoid stressing your ankles.

THE WEATHER
Chill in the morning, I had to wear a woolen jumper to the start line that I threw away before the run. Perfect conditions during the race with 15 degrees maximum.
THE ATMOSPHERE
Barcelona was on fire and didn't disappoint me! Electrical from the start, DJs, live music and dedicated cheering zones helped lift runners' spirits, particularly in the later stages.

WHERE TO STAY
I would choose to stay in the very central area of the city, l'Eixample, the area is full of hotels! I highly recommend hotels around Plaça de Catalunya or close to Passeig de Gracia. Not only greatly located for the race but for some holidays too.
